TO THE ONES WHO'VE STARTED PRAYING AGAIN
.: Shoutout to the acupunturists. :.
The ones taking horticulture classes in between acting jobs
And yoga teacher-trainings after violin and after budget meetings
Shoutout to the ones creating non-profits right now
And the ones hiring life coaches and going to therapy for the first time
(and the third and the eighth time. And the ones who are trying Quantum work now after therapy).
Shoutout to the ones valuing Dreamtime: catching more and more in the space between “dream” and “awake”—should the gap be acknowledged.
Shoutout to the ones meeting up in zoom rooms just to think about dreams together,
The ones writing that book, making that album, doing that thing that scratches at their soul after the protest.
Shoutout to the curious ones
The ones on ancestry.com and familysearch.org after the day’s zoom call ends
still at the screen
and then at the table
Asking.
asking their family the questions no one else has asked yet, “just to know”
The ones reclaiming their traditions
and peeking at that pile of familiar, familial that trauma that “isn’t theirs”—
shoutout to the ones accepting it any way, since it is at their feet—
learning alchemy via essential oils, indoor gardening, and silence.
Shoutout to the ones reading about trees
The ones learning the migration patterns of Swallow and getting excited about that marsh behind their house
The cattails! That new Birch!
Shoutout to the ones making 30 second cartoons about 'mixed' kids, and the ones journaling about their childhoods
Shoutout to the ones asking their parents what they were like as kids; before it all got crazy
Shoutout to the ones doing things that have nothing to do with anything that makes sense in their lives
Why am I painting? I don’t know, I like it.
The ones who are calling, the ones who are called.
Shoutout to the ones who’ve started praying again.
Back on their knees--a little creakier--but still,
bending back to
Back to
Now I lay me down to sleep
Shoutout to the dreamers
Shoutout to the dreamed.
